News Release Date 04-16-2026 Back to News UPDATE 04/21/2026 10:30 am The City of Winter Springs would like to provide an update on the ongoing reclaimed‑water outage affecting the eastern service area. Some customers may have noticed that limited reclaimed-water service was restored on Monday, April 20, 2026. Please be aware that this restoration should not be considered a permanent fix and service may fluctuate until permanent repairs are completed and a long‑term solution is found. Any water currently being delivered meets all reclaimed‑water quality standards. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. UPDATE 04/16/2026 12:30pm We wanted to provide an update on the continued reclaimed‑water outage in the eastern service area. While our contractors have been working non-stop to restore the production of compliant reclaimed water, they have not yet been able to consistently produce water that meets required standards. Due to the age of the equipment and a shortage of required repair materials, the outage will continue until permanent repairs are completed. Our team is optimistic that these permanent repairs could be completed by the end of May. We appreciate your patience and understanding. UPDATE 04/08/2026 6:30pm Our contractors continue to work diligently to keep all efforts moving forward. While there has been some progress regarding the production of compliant reclaimed water, it still appears that until permanent repairs are complete, the outage will continue. We will continue to provide updates as work progresses and more information becomes available. UPDATE 03/31/2026 2:30pm The EWTP is still unable to produce compliant reclaimed water. Our utility contractor and engineering team are working on a temporary solution, but process issues will persist until the new filter sand media is delivered and installed. We are awaiting a confirmed delivery date and will provide an update once available. UPDATE 03/23/2026 6:30pm Although the EWTP is currently producing reclaimed water that meets all standards, there are still issues in the process that prevent consistency until the new sand media for the filters is delivered and installed. UPDATE 03/13/2026 5:30pm City staff, our utility contractor, and consulting engineers met today to review the current operational status of the East Reclaimed Water Plant and to evaluate progress on the necessary repairs. Our contractors continue to work diligently to keep all efforts moving forward and to address the issues as quickly and safely as possible. At this time, it still appears that repairs will require several more weeks to fully resolve. We will continue to provide updates as work progresses and more information becomes available. This article explains what’s happening, what we’re doing to fix it, and what residents can do in the meantime.East Wastewater Plant & Reclaimed Water Update FAQ UPDATE 03/09/2026 10:30am We wanted to provide an update on the current reclaimed water outage in the eastern service area.Recently, our utility operator discovered that some equipment at our east wastewater treatment plant was malfunctioning, preventing our facility from consistently supplying compliant reclaimed water to our eastern service area. After several attempts, it was determined that the necessary repairs would be more extensive than initially expected. An emergency inspection by the manufacturer revealed that media replacement and rehabilitation of critical components are necessary. Additionally, our efforts to supply reclaimed water from our west plant were insufficient to achieve the required water pressure to meet demand in our eastern service area.Due to the high cost of these repairs, approval from the city commission is required before proceeding. Once approved, the repairs are expected to take several weeks to be completed.Our team is working diligently to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
