Newark, NJ — A man captured on surveillance video taking a wallet from a parked vehicle in Newark is now the focus of a public search, after the theft unfolded Tuesday morning on Isabella Avenue. The incident occurred within a short window—between 7:45 a.m. and 9 a.m.—after the vehicle’s owner mistakenly left a window open, allowing the suspect to reach inside and remove personal belongings. Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. is asking for the public’s help in identifying the man, whose image was recorded during the theft in the city’s North Ward. Theft caught on camera in two-hour window According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the victim parked in the 100 block of Isabella Avenue early Tuesday morning and unintentionally left the front passenger window down. When the victim returned about 9 a.m., the vehicle had been disturbed. Personal items were scattered inside, and the victim’s wallet was missing. Investigators later reviewed surveillance footage, which showed a man approaching the vehicle and removing the wallet from inside. Suspect description released Authorities described the suspect as a thin-built man seen wearing a navy-blue baseball cap, blue jean jacket, red T-shirt, blue jeans, red sneakers, and eyeglasses.
