Mangal Wins National Junior Honor Society Award April 9, 2026 Buddy Taylor Middle School (BTMS) Student leader Alexander Mangal has been awarded the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) Outstanding Achievement Award (OAA), recognizing his exceptional scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. Alexander currently serves as both President of the BTMS NJHS chapter and Co-President of the Student Government Association (SGA). In these roles, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to student leadership, fostering collaboration among peers, and leading initiatives that benefit both the school and his community. In addition to his academic and leadership achievements, Alexander has represented Buddy Taylor in the 2025 International SeaPerch Underwater Robotics Challenge, showcasing his skills in engineering, teamwork, and problem-solving. He is set to compete again this year, continuing his pursuit of excellence in STEM-related activities. Alexander is also a violinist, performing as a member of the Flagler Youth Orchestra since 2021, where he pursues music education and contributes his musical talents and discipline to ensemble performance. His commitment to the arts complements his well-rounded academic and extracurricular profile. Athletically, Alexander is actively involved in multiple sports and further demonstrates his leadership and community service by assisting coaches with youth soccer. In this role, he mentors younger athletes, helping them develop both their skills and sportsmanship. The NJHS Outstanding Achievement Award is granted to students who distinguish themselves through a combination of academic excellence, leadership, and service; qualities that Alexander consistently embodies.
