Car meet turns chaotic as shooting leaves one dead Columbia, MD — A gathering tied to an illegal car rally turned deadly early Sunday when gunfire erupted inside a parking garage, leaving one man dead and several others wounded. Police responded around 5:27 a.m. to the 6700 block of Alexander Bell Drive after reports of a shooting. Officers arriving at the scene found one adult male dead inside the parking structure. A second adult male was located at the scene with injuries described as non-life-threatening and was transported to a nearby hospital. In the hours that followed, four additional victims arrived at area hospitals with gunshot wounds believed to be connected to the same incident. Authorities said those injuries also appear to be non-life-threatening. Investigators believe the shooting is linked to an illegal car rally and that many individuals involved were known to one another. Officials also indicated that several participants were not from Howard County. No suspect information has been released as detectives continue to piece together what led to the violence.
