Excellence T-shirts Presented to MVA Students Apr 22 2026 Montverde Academy proudly recognized a remarkable group of students during assembly on Wednesday, April 22, as they were awarded Excellence T-shirts in honor of their outstanding achievements across academics, arts, athletics, and extracurricular pursuits. From national awards and prestigious competitions to regional championships and leadership honors, these students exemplify the highest standards of dedication, talent, and character within our school community. The NJHS Outstanding Achievement Award The NJHS Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes 500 middle-level students throughout the U.S. annually with a $500 college savings plan, honoring their excellence in scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Seventh grader Anna Julia Dias and ninth grader Natalia Ghanem are recipients of the NJHS Outstanding Achievement Award. Princeton Prize in Race Relations The Princeton Prize in Race Relations has selected Dexter Clarke to receive a Certificate of Recognition from the Tampa Bay Regional Committee. GatorLAN Championship The MVA Esports League has a new champion in its ranks! The University of Florida’s Reitz Union was buzzing with energy as gamers from across the region gathered for GatorLAN Spring 2026. MVA’s very own Andrew Borne took home the first-place trophy in the Minecraft tournament. Scholastic Art & Writing Awards in Region-at-Large South Art The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers awarded Yeva Melnichenko with a Silver Key. Carson Scholars Fund Award The Carson Scholars Fund awards $1,000 college scholarships to students who excel academically and are dedicated to serving their communities. MVA Sophomore Meera Patel was recently named a Carson Scholar. National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) Student Leadership Award Brooke Burton Wiljeanne Marc Estime Marisha Pirani Akylah Shirley Southeast Regional National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition Finalists MVA’s national qualifiers include the following students: Olivia Fontana Elena Osborne Sophia Gil Ashlyn Anderson National Model UN Conference Islay Smith and Camilia Berrada Allam won first place in their committee at the national conference in New York City and were voted “top speakers” as they delivered part of the closing address in front of the entire assembly. Legacy Dance Competition “Elite Gold” Winners – Regional Qualifier Ariana Delgado Kaitlyn Berkemeier Hannah Powell Isabelle Izquierdo Estela Carattini-Cintron Evelyn Donnelly Lake-Sumter State College’s 39th Annual Mathlympics Montverde Academy had two teams of four students participate in the Mathlympics. All eight students should come forward for Excellence in Mathematics. Of nearly 30 teams from 16 different schools at the Lake-Sumter State College’s 39th Annual Mathlympics, Montverde Academy had the top two teams. Team B won first place: Dylan Bova Rimon Du Mateus Silva Xinning (Ningning) Wang Team A followed closely for second place: Ne (Annie) An Siqi (Stephen) Chen Yan Zhong Ronghang (Hannah) Zhu This marks the closest finish in MVA history between the two teams. National Merit Finalist Michele Su is a National Merit Finalist, only one of 15,000 in the country. National Merit Qualifiers for 2026–27 The National Merit Qualifiers for the 2026–27 school year were released this week. According to metrics provided by College Board through an analysis of the PSAT results, these students are among the top 50,000 rising seniors: Dylan Bova Caleb John Damian Jones Nidhi Krishna Sebastian Orozco Dhairya Rupareliya Nikita Verma Athletic Excellence Miles Outerbridge was the 2026 Carifta Games 100m champion with a time of 10.21. He also won second place in the 200m with a time of 20.54. The Girls 4x200 Relay Team captured the 2026 New Balance Indoor National Championship, excelling in prelims and setting a new High School Girls Indoor National Record in the finals with a time of 1:34.25: DaQuana Howell Adriana Rodriguez Dasia Reed Nakira Hudson Arima Turner Tomorrow, these Excellence recipients will be celebrated as they wear their Excellence T-shirts to school, joined by faculty and staff in a shared show of pride and support.
