Skip to content Small Businesses Are Invited to Hurricane Preparedness Workshops Home > Small Businesses Are Invited to Hurricane Preparedness Workshops In 2009, the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council (TBRPC) developed the Tampa Bay Catastrophic Plan: Project Phoenix, a comprehensive plan to address the challenges of response and recovery during a catastrophic event. Hurricane Phoenix, a fictitious storm, was created to simulate the effects of a worst-case scenario—a direct strike from a Category 5 hurricane.Building on this foundation, the 2020 Project Phoenix training exercises expanded the focus to include small business preparedness and recovery, featuring real-world lessons from Hurricane Michael survivors.The TBRPC invites small business owners and representatives to join the 2026 Project Phoenix Hurricane Preparedness Training! Please join us from 9am – 4pm for a full day training exercise that examines critical issues and capabilities of small businesses and emergency management agencies during disaster recovery. Hear about lessons learned from the 2024 hurricanes, gain access to various recovery resources, and connect with small business owners in your community. Parking is free, and lunch will be provided at all 6 tabletops, but space is limited.
