Off-duty cop saves collapsing goalie with two shocks in Hackensack rink scare Hackensack, NJ — A hockey game turned into a life-or-death moment when a goalie collapsed on the ice, but an off-duty officer in the crowd stepped in and restored his heartbeat within minutes. The incident happened around 9:00 p.m. April 22 at the Ice House in Hackensack. Officer Stefano, attending the game, noticed a crowd forming after the goalie reported feeling nauseous and suddenly went into cardiac arrest. Realizing the man had no pulse, the officer directed his wife to call 911 and immediately began CPR. He then located a defibrillator on site and delivered two shocks. After the second shock, the man’s heartbeat was restored. Emergency responders arrived shortly after and transported the man to Hackensack University Medical Center. Officials said he is currently recovering. Authorities credited the officer’s rapid response and use of the defibrillator with saving the man’s life. Key Points
