St. Johns County Public Library System to Discontinue Hoopla AccessMar 30, 2026 | NewsThe St. Johns County Public Library System (SJCPLS) regularly assesses its online resources. After careful consideration, SJCPLS will discontinue access to the Hoopla streaming service effective May 1, 2026. “We frequently review our digital offerings to ensure we are providing the best possible value and experience for our community,” said Amy Ackerman, Support Services Manager for SJCPLS. “This decision allows us to reinvest in resources that will benefit the greatest number of library patrons.” SJCPLS remains committed to providing a wide and robust collection of materials. While Hoopla has been valued for its convenience and broad selection, the library system will reallocate funding to improve both its digital offerings and physical collections, guaranteeing continued access to high-quality resources. Patrons are encouraged to try Kanopy, which offers streaming films; Libby, which provides a wide selection of ebooks and audiobooks; and the expanding physical collection available at all branch locations. In Libby, patrons can also access additional digital materials by adding reciprocal borrowing libraries, such as Martin County and Clay County, to their accounts.
